Reed Talent Professionals are supporting The Metropolitan Police Service in the search for a Commercial Consultant with Risk and Assurance experience to join their Enablement and Performance Department.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to develop a broad range of commercial and risk management skills, focusing on commercial transformation, assurance, and governance.

The ideal candidate will have public sector commercial knowledge and experience of working in a complex environment with a focus on risk management, corporate governance, and internal controls.

Desirable Criteria:

  • CIPS qualification / IACCM certification (or working towards).
  • Experience of supply network risk management.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Gain exposure to commercial transformation, assurance, and governance within a complex environment.
  • Understand and apply risk management, corporate governance, and internal controls within the public sector or large organisations.
  • Manage end-to-end commercial lifecycle management and adhere to commercial policy and relevant legislation.
  • Prioritise and manage a demanding workload to meet operational and strategic deadlines.
  • Organise and facilitate meetings and workshops across all levels, including with senior colleagues, practitioners, and external stakeholders.
  • Analyse and interpret large amounts of data/information, synthesising complex information into strategic, succinct, and pertinent reports for different audiences.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a complex environment with a focus on risk management, corporate governance, and internal controls.
  • Understanding of the principles of commercial lifecycle management and knowledge of governance, commercial policy, and relevant legislation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise urgent and important tasks effectively.
  • Confident IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and the ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to organise and facilitate meetings and workshops.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence decision-making and escalate complex issues when necessary.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement.
