Job Overview:
Mainstay are recruiting a large, Facilities Management contractor. They are seeking to add a highly skilled and experienced HV Senior Authorised Person to provide specialist support and oversight of HV (High Voltage) and LV (Low Voltage) operations across various locations around London and surrounding areas. This role ensures the safe and efficient management of electrical systems, with a focus on safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee compliance with safety rules and ensure their practical application on electrical systems.
- Operate, isolate, discharge, and verify systems and equipment as per your Senior Authorised Person certification.
- Issue, manage, and cancel safety documentation, ensuring all work is conducted safely.
- Assess and confirm the competency of the Person in Charge before issuing safety permits.
- Conduct on-site risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure control measures are in place.
- Determine and advise on the appropriate safety procedures (Tagout or Permit to Work) based on risk level.
- Assess and ensure competence of authorised and skilled persons within your team.
- Ensure regular audits of safety procedures and compliance with safety rules.
- Maintain the Electrical Distribution Operating Records (EDOR) and ensure all equipment remains in a safe operating condition.
- Collaborate with the Safety Coordinator and Controlling/Contract Manager to recommend safety improvements.
- Conduct inspections and remedial work when required, ensuring all relevant documentation is maintained.
- Provide expertise in emergency breakdown situations and assist with temporary power installations.
- Liaise effectively with all levels of the operations team, from engineers to directors.
- Always present the company positively, participate in team meetings, and follow company procedures.
Person Specifications:
- Minimum 5 years of electrical experience with HV AP Certification via an approved training provider.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical engineering.
- Proven experience working within critical infrastructure environments.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Full clean driving license.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, and other third-party systems.
- Must demonstrate detailed knowledge of systems and full understanding of safety rules and site-specific procedures.
