The role includes maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment for staff, visitors, and users. Duties also include performing routine maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, electrics, painting & decorating, and carpentry, alongside completing deliveries.Main Tasks and Responsibilities:General Responsibilities:

Facilities-Specific Tasks:
  • Carry out minor works to improve the site as instructed by the Line Manager.
  • Maintain awareness of the physical condition of buildings, furniture, fittings, and equipment; report or repair defects as needed.
  • General maintenance tasks, including:
    • Changing lamps and replacing lights.
    • Minor plumbing (clean drains, unblock toilets, fix leaky pipes).
    • Replacing door handles.
    • Minor painting and decorating (touch-ups).
  • Inspect and repair outdoor structures (gates, walls, steps, lights).
  • Assemble prefabricated or custom-built furniture using power drills and materials.
  • Undertake porterage duties to move furniture and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of external areas, including emptying litter bins and litter picking.
  • Periodically clean and clear drains and gullies.
  • Ensure entrance areas are clear of obstructions, keeping both inside and outside clean.
  • Treat surfaces with salt to prevent ice and snow build-up.
  • Inspect and remove dangerous materials from external areas or report to the Line Manager.
  • Ensure all equipment is returned to stores and kept secure.
  • Participate in cleaning and grounds maintenance activities.
  • Handle mail room duties, including receiving, sorting, and delivering post.
  • Provide assistance during staffing shortages at other locations.
  • Act as a Fire Marshall and First Aider when needed.
Person Specification:
  • Good communication skills with a strong command of the English language.
  • Practical skills in plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical tasks.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions; complete paperwork and use radio communication.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining a safe, clean, and customer-friendly environment.
  • Neat and professional approach at all times.
