Duration: Starts 29th October for 4 weeks initially (possibly longer)

Hours: 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday)

Pay: £19.96ph

About Our Client:

We are thrilled to partner with a prestigious membership body located in the heart of the West End. They are seeking a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Officer to join their team and ensure their premises are safe, secure, and efficiently managed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out PAT testing and minor electrical work, including fault finding, minimise disruption, thereby contributing towards the safety of occupants and adherence to legal and safety requirements.
  • Undertake small remedial works in the building (includes tenant space) such as decoration, plumbing, flooring, and carpentry to maintain the fabric of the building, enabling the Union to meet its legal obligations to tenants.
  • Responsible for maintaining and setting up AV equipment in meeting rooms, liaise with clients, trouble-shoot issues to ensure their requirements are fully met and high-quality services are provided at all times.
  • Manage Facilities workshops and storerooms including stock control of PPE, audit electrical plumbing and carpentry supplies, ensure tools and equipment is always in serviceable condition and that hazardous materials are stored safely.
  • Procure DIY supplies, ensuring best value is achieved at all times.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the Department's H&S procedures and practices in order to supervise external contractors in the building to ensure they are working safely and following the conditions of their permit to work.
  • Oversee waste management arrangements in the building, monitoring disposal procedures to ensure legal/safe disposal of waste requirements and environmentally friendly arrangements in place.
  • Assist with office relocations, including moving computers and associated equipment.
  • Participate in security arrangements, respond to requests for assistance from reception and/or others.
  • Provide frontline responses to tenants and staff on services offered by the Facilities Team through the Facilities helpdesk.
  • Provide first aid and fire warden services including assisting with PEEPS (personal emergency evacuation plans) as required to occupants of the building
  • Provide cover on reception as required by the Facilities Manager.
  • Undertake duties relevant to the post and within the skill range of the postholder to assist the Facilities Manager in the effective management of the building.

  • Experience of working on own initiative within agreed parameters, without immediate access to the line manager;
  • Experience of supporting the work of the Facilities Team to ensure a well-maintained, safe and secure office working environment.
  • Ability to organise and plan own workload to meet agreed schedules;
  • Knowledge and ability to undertake a range of regular routine Health & Safety and security checks, as required.
  • Experience of undertaking routine maintenance and repairs (painting & decorating, plumbing, electrical work and carpentry);
  • Ability to set up a range of equipment necessary for performance of the role;
  • Fault-finding skills to deal with minor problems;
  • Good personal presentation and customer service skills;
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite, ability to use difference pieces of IT equipment, Windows, Apple and able to set up equipment using difference formats
