As the Housing Officer, you will be responsible for building strong relationships with tenants, conducting periodic property inspections, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The Housing Officer acts as the eyes and ears of the Repairs & Maintenance team in the field, providing essential feedback and reports. This role requires close coordination with the Senior Repairs & Maintenance Coordinator and involves various tasks, including key management, collection and key lock installations all whilst maintaining health and safety standards.

Housing Officer / Property Inspector- Day-to-Day Accountabilities:

Tenant Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with tenants, ensuring open lines of communication.

  • Address tenant inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.

Property Inspections:

  • Organise and conduct periodic property inspections as per the contractual terms of each property.

  • Carry out additional inspections requested by the Repairs & Maintenance team.

  • Document inspection findings and highlight any need for repairs or maintenance.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Report all inspections that highlight the need for repairs or maintenance directly to the Senior Repairs & Maintenance Coordinator.

  • Properly file inspections that do not require repairs or maintenance using the relevant inspection software.

  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections on the G-Drive, ensuring documentation is complete and up-to-date.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Install key locks and cut keys as needed to ensure secure access to properties.

  • Conduct installations to comply with health and safety and fire regulations, such as fire blankets.

  • Ensure all installations and modifications meet compliance standards.

Field Operations Support:

  • Act as the eyes and ears of the Repairs & Maintenance team during field operations, identifying and reporting any issues promptly.

  • Provide detailed feedback on property conditions and tenant concerns to the Repairs & Maintenance team.

Key Management:

  • Oversee the installation of key locks and key cutting to ensure all properties are secure.

  • Maintain an organised and up-to-date key management system, ensuring all keys are properly logged and tracked via the key management member of staff.
