Are you an experienced Operations Manager who enjoys taking on tasks, making decisions and ensuring tasks and projects are completed in a timely manner?

Would you like to support the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of this prestigious university to ensure the highest standards of quality services and ensure effective operational management on a day-to-day basis?

The Role

Based in the City as an Operations Manager, you will work closely with the COO and stakeholders across the university, along with external organisations, to ensure the smooth and efficient management of the campus and safe and effective day to day operations.

You will be expected to act independently, taking timely and at times, significant decisions to ensure operational delivery, along with driving change, where required, across the campus through innovation and reflection of current operational systems and practises.

You will manage two properties in the City (and 1 on occasion in South London) and you will directly line manage the Reception Manager and the Operations Officer and have oversight of service providers (contractors).

This is a full-time, 36.5 hours per week role Monday - Friday mainly (some, but very rare evenings/weekends if needed). The role is on-site with the scope to work from home up to one day per week, in line with business needs.

Duties include:

  • Manage the team and the day-to-day operations of the university
  • Planning and delivering on various events across the year, including graduation ceremony
  • Producing operations reports as required by the COO
  • Monitoring of budgets
  • Seeking efficiencies in day-to-day operations to ensure best use of staff and resources
  • Supporting the COO with operational projects and business planning
  • Working with the health and safety team to manage all health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring all areas of the campus are health and safety compliant
  • Lead on the university's emergency planning and response
  • Management of a small team including performance management and appraisals
  • Identifying strengths in the team and motivating and nurturing them
  • Overseeing workforce planning of the team including recruitment and selection

Key experience required:

  • You will bring a considerable track record of achievement in a similar role, strong people management, along with planning management skills as appropriate to the role and enthusiasm to work as part of a team to secure the success of a fast-growing venture.
  • Experience in preparation of reports and statistics, researching projects, developing and defending business cases.
  • Understanding and knowledge of Health and Safety and the implications of non-compliance.
  • Experience of staff management with the ability to coach, motivate and manage the performance of staff.
  • A can-do attitude to confront problems proactively and create successful solutions.
  • Make timely and transparent decisions with confidence, analysing information, assessing risks and taking ownership to achieve results

2nd stage - to meet in person, meet the team, have a tour of campus'
