Security Officer - City of London

Our client, a well-established academic institution for business and the professions, is looking for security officers for their property and facilities department.

Are you a suitably qualified security officer, with a desire to ensure the provision of a high standard of information and reception services, public safety and security, for people, grounds,buildings and their contents? This may be the right position for you.

Responsibilities are:

  • Staffing the security control room, monitoring the CCTV, access control, intruder , fire and other alarm systems.
  • Providing information, answering queries or responding as required.
  • Patrolling buildings and grounds, checking the security and safety of premises and contents
  • Reporting to the appropriate office any security breaches, defects or other problems, particularly in relation to public and fire safety and taking any immediate action as required.
  • Observing suspicious persons, questioning and if necessary, assisting with the detention of intruders, dealing with disorders, including student misconduct.
  • Logging and safe keeping of found property, ensuring owners are contacted where possible and taking reports of lost property



To deliver that you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Having SIA and CCTV licences
  • working knowledge and experience of Accesscontrol, Intruder Alarm and CCTV systems.
  • Experience in working in a busy 'customer service' environment
  • Enthusiasm and reliability in working on both day and night shifts
  • Ability to work under pressure, alone or as part of a team.
  • Confidence in communication effectively with all customers, both face to face and via telephone.
  • Ability to move/lift loads such as tables, chairs, packages/deliveries, operate gates/shutters.
  • DBS check
