Job Purpose:

Are you passionate about supporting residents facing financial hardship? Tower Hamlets Homes (THH) is seeking a dedicated Financial Inclusion and Tenancy Support Officer to join our team. This vital role involves providing expert welfare benefits services, tenancy support, and debt management advice to residents impacted by welfare regulations and Universal Credit changes. You will play a key role in helping residents regain financial stability and prevent tenancy loss.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver financial advice and support to residents, helping them manage debt and improve financial control.
  • Offer tailored solutions to residents struggling with welfare reforms and provide support to reduce rent arrears and indebtedness.
  • Conduct sensitive assessments to identify the financial and social challenges tenants face.
  • Provide comprehensive debt advice, assist with benefits applications, and guide tenants through the Universal Credit process.
  • Refer residents to relevant external agencies for further support, including job training, educational opportunities, and other community resources.
  • Manage complex cases, preventing eviction, and ensuring tenancy sustainability.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, external agencies, and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for residents.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in frontline housing services, customer service, or a similar environment, ideally with debt management or welfare benefits knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of Welfare Benefit Legislation, Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, and income management best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to engage with vulnerable residents and provide support sensitively.
  • IT literate, with experience using MS Office and Northgate (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the local community and the ability to engage with diverse groups.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to conduct home visits and work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required.
