About the Role:We are currently recruiting a talented Syndicate Business Partner for our client, a leading global insurer offering world-class insurance and reinsurance services in all major markets. Their finance team consists of approximately 140 employees, with this position sitting within their Finance Performance/Syndicate UK & MENA team, consisting of 8 persons (CFO, 2 Senior Managers and a mix of 5 Business Partners and Analysts).

This role involves partnering with key stakeholders on Syndicate financial performance metrics, developing strong relationships with the Executive and Senior Management, and acting as the first point of contact for financial management queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with key stakeholders on Syndicate financial performance metrics.
  • Develop strong relationships with the Executive and Senior Management of the entities.
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the Pillar finance teams.
  • Ensure monthly financial reporting is fully analysed, understood, and explained to the Executive and Senior Management.
  • Assist with the delivery of the Syndicate plans and prepare Board and Management Committee packs.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of the performance of the lines of business and overall entity.
  • Understand the implications of the entities' performance from a regulatory and capital requirement perspective.
  • Work closely with the pillar business partners to obtain relevant commentary for P&L movements.
  • Establish a close working relationship with the Capital Modelling Team and Group Planning Teams.
  • Undertake analysis and respond to questions on financial performance.
  • Maintain and develop an appropriate model for stakeholder engagement.
  • Support other Business Partners during busy periods.
  • Continually improve Syndicate processes, reporting capability, and analysis.
  • Support with analysis on ad hoc tasks, projects, and other initiatives.

Skills and Experience:

  • ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualified with relevant work experience, preferably in a similar role within insurance.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance accounting and industry knowledge.
  • Highly skilled at developing key relationships and building credibility.
  • Highly analytical with a structured approach to data manipulation and interpretation.
  • Ability to consider various data sources and outcomes for decision-making.
  • Ability to align metrics and decisions with strategic priorities.
  • High level of resilience and effective stakeholder management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing.
  • Good knowledge of risk management.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong problem-solving capability.
  • Minimum intermediate MS Excel skills; experience with Microsoft BI, SAP, and AnaPlan is advantageous.
