Telecare Officer - Lewisham

Salary: £19/hr

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: 36 hours per week

Job Overview:

HATCHED Recruitment is seeking an experienced Telecare Officer to join the local authority team in Lewisham. The role involves providing emergency support services to vulnerable individuals, offering advice, liaising with relevant agencies, and visiting service users in their homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to calls from service users using the computerized call handling system.
  • Assess emergency situations, prioritize urgency, and respond accordingly.
  • Visit users in their homes, identify the level of support needed, and coordinate with emergency services and other relevant agencies.
  • Provide emergency first aid, resuscitation, personal care, and safer moving & handling as required.
  • Provide crisis support and liaise with health and social care professionals.
  • Follow up with GPs, medical professionals, and users' families, ensuring appropriate referrals and actions are taken.
  • Offer information and assistance to users, their next of kin, and other agencies.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Understanding of issues affecting vulnerable individuals, including elderly, disabled, or those living with chronic illness, domestic violence, or mental health challenges.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation related to vulnerable people and Health & Safety.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with statutory and voluntary agencies.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and handle confidential matters.
  • Proficient in using IT systems and responding effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability or willingness to attend training for first aid, CPR, and safer moving & handling.

Experience:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals in their homes or similar care settings.
  • Experience with general administrative tasks and customer care.
  • Practical experience with computerized systems.
