Job Summary:
Graysons at The Francis Crick Institute are seeking a skilled and motivated Hospitality Chef to support the Head Chef in leading our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in managing the day-to-day kitchen operations for the hospitality and events department, ensuring high standards of food quality, creativity, and presentation. This role requires strong culinary skills, leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Support:
- Assist the Head Chef and the kitchen team, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Support training programs to ensure staff are skilled in culinary techniques, food safety, and presentation standards.
- Act as a role model for junior chefs, providing guidance and constructive feedback.
Menu Execution & Innovation:
- Assist in preparing and executing menus that align with Graysons brand and ethos.
- Maintain consistency and quality in food preparation, ensuring every dish meets high standards of taste and presentation.
- Contribute ideas for menu development and seasonal updates.
Event & Catering Support:
- Collaborate with the kitchen team and events team to deliver tailored menus for private functions, corporate events, and concerts.
- Oversee food preparation and service during events, ensuring seamless execution and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse catering requirements.
Operational Management:
- Support the management of food inventory, ensuring efficient stock levels and minimizing waste.
- Monitor kitchen operations to ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Quality & Standards:
- Uphold the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency across all culinary offerings.
- Regularly taste dishes and provide feedback to ensure continual improvement.
- Stay informed about food trends and incorporate them into daily operations when appropriate.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the Head Chef, kitchen team, events team, and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain clear communication with team members, sharing updates, instructions, and goals effectively.
- Attend team meetings to provide insights and contribute to strategic discussions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef/Hospitality Chef or in a similar role within a high-volume kitchen, restaurant, or events venue.
- Strong understanding of food preparation, kitchen operations, and hygiene regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of the team in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
- Predominantly working Monday to Friday.
- Ability to handle the physical demands of the role, including standing for long periods and working in high-pressure situations.
