Job Summary:

Balans Restaurant is seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, maintaining kitchen efficiency, and upholding food safety standards. The Sous Chef will play a key role in menu development, staff supervision, and maintaining a positive kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.

  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring consistency and high standards in food quality.

  • Oversee food inventory, ordering, and stock rotation to minimize waste and control costs.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.

  • Collaborate with the Head Chef in specials development and innovation, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.

  • Monitor kitchen efficiency and workflow, making adjustments as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.

  • Assist in managing kitchen schedules and ensuring adequate staffing levels.

  • Step in for the Head Chef as needed during absences.

  • Foster a positive team environment, encouraging communication and collaboration.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role in a high-volume restaurant.

  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
