Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Gas Maintenance Engineer to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing commercial gas systems and non-gas plant eg, pumps, valves and strainers across a variety of client sites. As a key part of their operations, you will ensure all systems are compliant with safety regulations and functioning efficiently. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in commercial gas maintenance.
Key Responsibilities of a Commercial Maintenance Gas Engineer:
- Perform planned preventative maintenance on commercial gas boilers, pumps, actuators, plate heat exchangers, pressurisation units, and degassers, adhering to company schedules.
- Diagnose and repair faults on commercial gas boilers and associated equipment, including pumps and pipework.
- Safely isolate equipment before commencing any work, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Attending reactive callouts to resolve plant failures and restore heating, ensuring quick and effective solutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis to resolve operational issues and prevent future plant failures.
- Repair and reinstate commercial plant equipment as necessary to ensure continued functionality.
- Manage site-based project work, including developing scopes of work for plant remediation and improvements.
- Work closely under the supervision of the Lead Commercial Engineer, collaborating with the team to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in the on-call Rota, responding to callouts (typically 1 week in 4) to maintain service continuity.
- Maintain accurate records by completing clear and concise online work orders, ensuring the maintenance system is always up to date.
Knowledge and Experience needed for the Commercial Maintenance Gas Engineer:
- 1-3 years of experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer.
- Must hold Commercial Gas Registration and have completed relevant certifications, including Testing & Purging Training (TPCP1) and Gas Booster (BMP1).
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering or a similar qualification is preferred.
- Experience in maintaining and repairing commercial gas boilers from manufacturers such as Hoval, Hamworthy, Ideal, and Buderus.
- Strong operational knowledge of commercial gas boilers is essential, with experience in heat network energy centers, plant rooms, or similar systems considered advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including P&IDs and mechanical schematics.
- Basic electrical competency is desirable.
- Proficient in the safe isolation of both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Possess a full UK driving license, valid for at least 12 months.
