With a background in Chemistry (interest in synthetic chemistry and/or analytical chemistry) a Pilot Plant Facilities Chemist / operator who will work shifts (days) is urgently required for the facilities pilot plat area to conduct storage/sampling, blending, waste management. As a pilot plant facilities chemist you will be responsible for the safe receipt, storage, decanting of samples, safe manufacture of larger scale blends and final filtration of products used for testing and customer sampling. As a chemistry / operator as part of the role you will also be safely handling and disposal of both chemical waste, maintenance of inventory, stock taking.
As a pilot plant chemist / operator you would expand skills in logistics, pilot-plant and chemical waste handling/disposal procedures and operations and have the opportunity to interact across technology groups
Shift pattern (Wk 1 Wk 2)
Shift One - 6.00am until 2.00pm Monday - Friday
Shift Two - 11.30am until 7.30pm Monday - Thursday (10-6pm on a Friday)
Key Responsibilities
- Blending of finished chemical products and packages to tight tolerances
- Receiving, decanting and shipping of samples requested via site inventory system
- Maintain high standards of inventory control and chemical waste management control
- Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping.
- Proactively contribute to the high safety standard of the group.
- Carry out activities in a way that meets safety, technical and quality standards with minimal supervision.
- Ultimately will be expected to be interchangeable with all roles in the Facility
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Chemistry (or chemical engineering) background, lab experience Chemistry, Process chemistry, Industrial chemistry, Synthetic chemistry or some analytical chemistry
- Some lab experience or pilot plant experience
- Strong technical competencies with an aptitude for practical laboratory and/or pilot plant work and organic synthesis: experience in analytical chemistry techniques would be an advantage
- A Fork Lift Truck licence or be will to be prepared to undertake training in this area.
- Diligence to accurately manage test results, technical information, and lab records, combined with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations
- Preferably Experience in an industrial setting - manufacturing or production or pilot plant setting
- Manufacturing plant experience is desirable but not essential.
