A Senior Analytical Chemist (Senior Analyst) is urgently required for a global company where the chance to step up and grow with an expanding team and take on new responsibilities is forefront in this role.

As a solid analytical chemist with skills in LC-MS (or LC-MS-MS), and GC-MS you will coordinate the development of new analytical methods as required by the business. You will use your sound knowledge and experience to improve existing methods and procedures and aid in troubleshoot across the Chemistry Laboratory and be able to develop validation method from scratch working to and ISO 17025 requirements

You are a strong team player, comfortable managing staff and mentoring more junior members of the team, and working alongside laboratory and quality teams and acting as a first point of contact for the wider business.

It is crucial that you are technically competent with Gas & Liquid chromatography with Mass Selective Detection. Good working experience on sample preparation and extraction will help you hit the ground running.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Use key analytical techniques to analyse samples such as LC-MS (or LC-MS-MS), AND GC-MS
  • Developing analytic methods and validating developed methods (from scratch) to ISO 17025
  • Supporting the chemistry teams with maintenance and troubleshooting and providing to the teams.
  • Monitoring technical developments to assist Quality departments in making informed decisions.
  • Prioritise workloads and demonstrate competence in staff management.
  • Performing analysis and operating instrumentation in accordance with the Management System.
  • Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Chromatographic and preparatory equipment.
  • Analyse and interpret data, calculate results and complete all laboratory paperwork.
  • Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
  • Ensure data is accurately entered into the Laboratory Information Management System within set timeframes.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Background in Chemistry or similar preferable to degree level.
  • Must have commercial experience outside an academic environment
  • Existing knowledge of good laboratory practice gained via previous laboratory experience
  • Analytical experience in LC-MS AND GC-MS.
  • Helpful if worked to ISO 17025 or similar
  • Experience with instrumental analysis software.
  • Thermo Scientific or Agilent instruments and software is desirable.
  • Good numeracy, literacy and computer literacy required.
