Data and Reporting Manager - Further Education experience required

Data and Reporting Manager with experience of working within the Further Education Sector required to lead the development of reporting techniques and maintain robust data systems to support the efficiency and effectiveness of information access within the College. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data that underpins the College's funding returns and will play a crucial role in shaping the departmental strategy in line with College objectives.



Day to Day of the role:

  • Contribute significantly to departmental strategy, aligning team plans with College objectives.
  • Manage the Data team to ensure data validation, interrogation, and extraction are accurate and efficient.
  • Implement college-wide reporting policies across multiple databases, including exception reporting.
  • Define and update business processes within key areas of responsibility.
  • Establish data input protocols and validation exercises for funding data accuracy and consistency.
  • Stay abreast of IT technology developments, proposing system and practice changes for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with management and curriculum directors to ensure data accurately reflects delivery and performance.
  • Develop and maintain reliable management information systems.
  • Create dynamic reports from various databases, making data accessible in multiple formats.
  • Analyse data, provide variance explanations, and maintain documentation and training guides for College reports.
  • Ensure reporting tools and planning software are fit for purpose and user-friendly.
  • Lead in defining and updating critical business processes and data input protocols.
  • Liaise with Systems Support to maximise the benefit and potential of Management Information Systems (MIS).
  • Ensure compliance with Data Protection regulations, funding guidance/rules, and audit regulations.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in data management and reporting within an educational setting.
  • Technical skills in SQL, SSRS reporting services, Tribal EBS Student Information System, ProMonitor
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team.
  • Knowledge of data protection laws, including DPA and GDPR.
  • Familiarity with funding agency guidelines and audit regulations (Individualised Learner Record (ILR)).
  • Proficient in MIS and database software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
