This is a great opportunity for an experienced Head of IT to join a small yet highly innovative member of a larger financial services group, with a cloud-first philosophy. They are at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge technologies within the insurance sector, offering a dynamic and progressive work environment.

Reporting to the CIO, the Head of IT will take responsibility for their Azure-based infrastructure, Information Security, Project Management, Service Delivery Data Engineering and Development with three direct reports and a team of seven.

The role requires a deep understanding of Azure-based Infrastructure with some architecture design and strategy experience rather than a requirement for hands-on the tin type knowledge.

The role will be mainly home-based with a day a week on-site in London, Horsham and Mansfield.

The Role:

  • Collaborate with the business to ensure the technology is fit for purpose and aligned with the overall company strategy.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of a robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure and architecture.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of all cloud-based systems and services.
  • Optimise cloud resources to achieve cost efficiency and effective utilisation.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for technology operations, security, and service delivery.
  • Utilise data-driven insights to drive strategic decision-making and continuous improvement within the technology department.
  • Provide mentor-ship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to the technology team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced Head of IT with at least five years in an IT leadership role.

  • You will have a strong understanding of Azure cloud infrastructure and architecture.
  • Extensive experience in IT operations, including infrastructure management, cloud architecture, IT service management, and information and cyber security.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex IT projects.
  • Experience working in a mall to mid-sized organisation, with an understanding of the challenges and demands of such environments.
  • Experience in leading IT transformation initiatives, particularly in infrastructure modernisation, cloud adoption, or cybersecurity enhancement.
