Inspiring Girls International (IGI) is a global charity dedicated to raising the aspirations of girls by connecting them with women role models from a variety of professional backgrounds. Through a network of volunteers, partners, and educational initiatives, IGI inspires young women to pursue their passions and break down gender stereotypes that can limit their career ambitions. 

Currently operating across a network of 39 country teams, IGI has seen significant growth and impact in recent years. This is an exciting time for the organisation as we reach a pivotal stage in our development and look towards our ten year anniversary in 2026. 

ROLE OVERVIEW

The CEO of Inspiring Girls International will provide visionary and strategic leadership, working closely with the Board of Trustees, the small core HQ team, and various internal and external stakeholders to advance the charity’s mission. As the organisation moves into an exciting new phase of development, we are looking for an experienced leader who can drive organisational growth, continue to build sustainable funding streams, foster strong partnerships, and oversee the development of initiatives that support girls and young women globally. The CEO will act as a key spokesperson for Inspiring Girls International, representing the organization to funders, partners, and the media.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision in line with IGI’s mission for the next phase of development, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and ambitions.  
  • Provide regular updates to the Board, with insights into IGI’s progress, impact, and areas for development.

2. Operational and Financial Management:

  •  Oversee the delivery of IGI’s projects and initiatives across multiple countries, ensuring high-quality, impactful programming.  
  •  Manage the annual HQ budget, financial forecasting, and risk management with a focus on financial sustainability and resource optimisation.  
  •  Manage a small dedicated HQ team, alongside a broad and diverse network of Country Chairs, promoting a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.  

3. Fundraising and Development:

  • Drive funding growth through diverse income streams, including grants, corporate partnerships, individual donations, and innovative funding opportunities.  
  • Cultivate relationships with key donors and partners, and explore new funding opportunities to secure long-term financial stability for IGI.  

4. Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy:

  • Act as the main spokesperson for IGI, representing the organization at high profile events, meetings, and in the media.  
  • Build and maintain partnerships with governments, businesses, educational institutions and other key networks to expand IGI’s reach and impact.  
  • Foster a robust network of volunteers and role models who can contribute to IGI’s mission globally.
  • Lead on Inspiring Girls' participation in key communications campaigns and initiatives.

5. Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in all IGI’s operations, with a focus on safeguarding and data protection.  
  • Collaborate with the Board to maintain effective governance practices and accountability measures, promoting transparency and ethical stewardship.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential skills and experience:

  • Leadership experience: Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role, ideally within a non-profit environment  
  • Strategic vision: Proven track record in setting and delivering strategic goals in alignment with an organisation's mission and growth objectives.  
  • Fundraising expertise: Demonstrable experience in overseeing diverse fundraising streams, including corporate partnerships, with a successful track record in securing high-value funding partnerships.  
  • Stakeholder management: Strong relationship-building skills, with experience engaging a range of stakeholders including government bodies, corporate partners, funders, and volunteers.  
  • Operational management: Financial and operational acumen, with experience managing budgets, evaluating impact, and ensuring project delivery across multiple locations.  
  • Media and advocacy skills: Comfort and capability in public speaking and media engagement, with experience advocating for social causes or organisations on a global platform.  
  • Resilience and adaptability: Capacity to thrive in a varied, mission-driven environment with changing priorities and limited resources. 

Desired skills and experience:

  • Passion for IGI’s Mission: Proven commitment to inspiring girls and young women and promoting gender equality in professional and educational spaces.  
  • Experience working across diverse cultural contexts and with international teams.  
  • Digital Literacy: Understanding of digital communication and social media strategies, particularly as tools for engagement and advocacy.  
  • Language skills: Excellent level of English. Proficiency in a language other than English is an advantage, in particular Spanish or other widely spoken languages within IGI’s global network.
