Data Collection Officer

Salary: £28,000 per annum

What you will be doing?

The primary purpose of the role is to collect scientific data for large scale research projects.

Participant Recruitment:

  • Manage Potential Participants:
    • Contact participants from Forward to gauge interest.
    • Provide study and participation details.
    • Use Forward Trust's contacts to identify potential participants.
    • Schedule and record interviews at sites or online, noting contact details.
  • Coordinate with Facilitators:
    • Obtain a list of potential interviewees and contact them.
  • Location Coordination:
    • Be available at designated locations (hybrid or remote work possible).

Conducting Study Interviews:

  • Prepare Materials:
    • Arrange necessary equipment and supplies.
    • Distribute and track participant vouchers.
    • Organize digital documents for easy access.
  • Conduct Interviews:
    • Facilitate interviews per established guidelines.

Post-Interview Management:

  • Document and Data Security:
    • Save and organize all documents.
    • Conduct regular data audits for compliance.
    • Send recordings for transcription and track status.
    • Review transcriptions for accuracy and GDPR compliance.

Essential

  • Educational Background:
    • Current Research Masters or PhD candidate in Research, Social Sciences, or Public Health.
  • Skills and Experience:
    • Proven experience in conducting qualitative research.
    • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including interviewing abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
    • Administrative experience including scheduling and conducting interviews.
    • Proficiency in using digital tools and devices for data collection.
    • GDPR Knowledge and Training

Desirable:

  • Knowledge:
    • Engagement with behavioural theories and public health research.
    • Understanding of issues related to substance misuse and homelessness.

Experience:

  • Prior experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Familiarity with ethical considerations and safeguarding procedures in research.
  • Project specific:
  • Willingness to travel between Hull and Dover and potentially other services as needed (expenses covered).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical research practices.
