My client based in London is seeking a Data Protection Manager / Consultant to join their team for a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Protection & Privacy:
    • Oversee data protection and privacy rules.
    • Identify, assess, and manage data and cyber risks.
    • Report data breaches and ensure compliance with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office).
  1. General Responsibilities:
    • Ensure data protection and privacy rules are followed.
    • Manage operational risks and ensure they are identified and controlled.
    • Oversee relationships with third-party suppliers and ensure they meet standards.
    • Follow data governance policies, especially for sensitive or personal data.
  1. Specific Responsibilities:
    • Advise senior management and staff on data protection laws (like GDPR).
    • Monitor compliance with data protection laws, conduct audits, and train staff.
    • Be the main contact for the ICO and individuals whose data is processed.
    • Keep records to prove compliance with data protection laws.
    • Support teams to ensure data policies are followed and monitor their effectiveness.
    • Oversee cyber risks related to personal data.
    • Manage relationships with the ICO and handle regulatory notifications.
    • Identify, assess, and manage privacy risks.
    • Develop and maintain policies like data retention, privacy notices, and accountability frameworks.
    • Analyse and report on privacy risks to senior management.
    • Monitor processes for data protection, including handling data breaches and access requests.
    • Advise senior leaders and the board on improvements needed to meet compliance.

Experience / Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of data privacy laws, including GDPR.
  • Ability to handle many tasks at once and prioritise effectively.
  • A dedicated attitude and take pride in delivering excellent work.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex regulations clearly.
