Head of Security Architecture

Join our client’s team as the Head of Security Architecture and lead the vision and strategy for Security Architecture within their organisation. This pivotal role ensures that staff have secure access to business services, maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of data in a demanding environment. You will be instrumental in defining and deploying new services, systems, and technologies while upholding a robust security posture.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Lead the definition of security requirements and design as part of a strength-in-depth approach to solution design across data, application, and infrastructure architecture.
  • Develop and implement cyber security patterns, policies, and standards to shape solution design.
  • Apply deep understanding of security concepts at a technical level.
  • Drive the evolution of security automation and tooling.
  • Design solutions operating at document marking above Official.
  • Foster new approaches to cyber security and represent Security Architecture in technology governance.
  • Collaborate with national policing and central government agencies on broader cyber security initiatives and challenges.
  • Engage with the entire Enterprise Architecture team to provide consistent design and governance, under the direction of the Head of Cyber Security.
  • Manage the security architecture workload with the support of contract security architects, commissioning Statements of Work (SOWs) and assuring their delivery.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience delivering effective security architecture in high-security environments such as policing, central government, defence, or finance.
  • Familiarity with best practice approaches, methods, and techniques for information security, with several years of relevant experience, including in public sector environments.
  • Experience in technology governance, capable of running governance forums and guiding programmes to compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a specialist team, promoting diversity and inclusion within an enterprise setting.
  • Experience in managing cyber security in a multi-supplier environment.
  • Leadership experience and a proven track record in planning and delivering security enterprise architecture within the Architecture domain.
  • Formal qualifications in InfoSec Training Paths and Competencies (ITPC) and TOGAF methodology are advantageous but not mandatory.
