An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Information Access Officer to join the Information Access Team within the Compliance and Assurance (C&A) Pillar at Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ). This role is pivotal in managing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Right of Access Requests (ROAR), ensuring the protection of sensitive police information while maintaining public transparency.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Maintain a database of all FOIA requests received and conduct thorough research on secure systems.
  • Consult with internal stakeholders to gather information for drafting time-compliant FOIA responses.
  • Assist with Right of Access Requests where Counter Terrorism (CT) information is sought.
  • Supervise the Information Officer and act as deputy for the Senior Information Manager when required.
  • Keep abreast of developments in information legislation and record management to ensure compliance.
  • Liaise with the MPS Information Rights Unit and the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) on FOIA requests.
  • Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills in the field.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a freedom of information environment or extensive knowledge of FOIA and Data Protection legislation.
  • Ability to draft concise and accurate reports.
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Clear communication of complex or specialist information to a range of audiences.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Decision-making experience with assertiveness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel.
