Overview:

The Senior Project Support Officer will play a pivotal role in assisting with the governance and operational management of a major IT outsourcing project. This role involves managing day-to-day project tasks such as maintaining governance frameworks, tracking progress, and ensuring compliance with project timelines and standards. The scope includes coordinating meetings, preparing reports, managing project documentation, tracking risks and issues, and supporting financial tracking and vendor management. The role is central to ensuring smooth communication across stakeholders, assisting in the execution of change management, and helping to meet project deliverables on time and within budget.

The Senior Project Support Officer (PSO) is responsible for the cross practice planning, governance, oversight and coordination & support, including financial control of customer transition projects/programmes and in-flight service on behalf of, and in support of, the Customer Services Delivery Director who is ultimately responsible for the success of the service. The role is consultancy based for customers on behalf of our customer.

  • Collaborative working style encompassing all delivery disciplines.
  • Able to participate as part of both real and virtual teams, to reach one common end goal.
  • Self-starter with the ability to build successful working relationships and engender trust.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as and when required, with potential overnight stays required.
  • Using good judgement to work within self-capability, understanding when to escalate.

General Skills and Expertise:

  • Experience working in large scale IT Programmes either as lead PMO or a project manager
  • Highly confident in all aspects of project and programme governance
  • Must have good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and prioritising tasks.
  • Able to build relationships and gain the trust of peers.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers at all levels.

Technical Expertise, Qualifications and Accreditations:

  • Professional - ITIL V3 / V4?.
  • Relevant Project management qualification (Prince, Agile, Scrum)
  • Software - Office 365, MS Project, MS Teams (or equivalent collaboration tool)
  • Experience using PowerBI would be advantageous
  • Strong process management, adapting -
  • The characteristics of delivering projects
  • The fundamentals of RAID management, RAG status reporting & milestone planning?
  • Understand version control and document integrity?
