Based in London, Frankfurt or Munich this is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and tenacious client development professional with a creative approach, to join the award-winning BD team of a leading international law firm.

You will be part of a BD, Marketing and Communications team that is already well-established within the firm and which is respected by partners and other fee-earners for its high standards of service and the ideas and commitment it brings to business development activities. The firm wishes to significantly accelerate growth through a distinctive sector focus and a strategy to become the most client-centric global law firm. In pursuit of this ambition, this newly created role will work closely with the Corporate and Private Equity teams to develop and implement the client strategy in line with the firm's ambition to deliver exceptional client service. The firm’s Private Equity team is a prominent force in mid-market leveraged cross-border transactions. They act for a large number of private equity sponsors, investee companies, management teams and debt providers, and work across a range of industries and deal sizes. This will be a client facing role and the Client Development Manager will be encouraged to have direct engagement with key client stakeholders at all levels, engaging with the client about their strategy, business issues and legal needs, gathering data and insights, and driving the evolution of a client engagement approach. The successful applicant will work alongside the International Private Equity and Corporate Partners to enhance the firm’s overall approach to managing strategic client relationships. You will be responsible for actively managing a small number of international relationships that offer significant growth potential, working with Client Relationship Partners to create ambitious growth plans and implement strategies to realise the potential of these relationships. The role holder will also enable Partners and Associates to become more effective in their client development efforts through coaching, skill-building and sharing best practice.

Essential requirements for the role of Client Development Manager include strong commercial awareness and focus combined with proven experience of working at a similar level within a legal or professional services environment, to include previous experience in Private Equity and sound knowledge of the Private Equity market including key industry networks, events and organisations. With a can-do attitude and bias for action, you will possess the ability to implement both strategic and tactical initiatives and to develop and implement processes that enhance the quality and efficiency of service delivery to clients. In addition, the ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who is able to motivate and inspire others to deliver business goals and will enjoy working to deadlines, juggling multiple projects and delivering under pressure. Spoken fluency in both English and German will also be highly advantageous.
