A leading legal firm is looking for an International Business Development & Relationships Manager to play an integral role in developing and implementing the firm’s international relationships and business development strategy through the firm’s Global Markets Programme.

The firm’s Global Markets Programme partners focus on regions where the firm’s lawyers deliver services to clients and build relationships with referrers, but where they do not have offices. Supporting the Head of International BD & Relationships, this role will involve working directly with partners from different offices on identified priorities, supporting them in progressing agreed actions, tracking progress and ROI and reporting on their activities. You will work closely with the wider BD, Marketing, Relationships & Communications teams and assume day to day management responsibilities for the International BD & Relationships Executive. Acting as the point person for BD budget tracking and undertaking research on markets, sectors, organisations and individuals of relevance, you will develop, review and update business planning and keep track of major BD successes and developments, new clients and matters from international markets. Key areas of focus will include managing the day-to-day operations of the firm’s global network of relationship law firms around the world, connecting clients to leading local lawyers in key markets and conducting relationship activity with key firms to strengthen and deepen connections, and providing input to partners and BD teams on cross-border pitches, proposals, and RFP responses, ensuring consistency and high-quality deliverables. The role holder will also monitor and report on referrals using the firm’s CRM InterAction, supporting best practice across fee-earners and other staff to track inbound and outbound opportunities and wins. On the marketing side, the successful applicant will work with lead partners to deliver a programme of activity in the firm’s key markets of North America, Africa, Latin America, India, China, Europe, the Caribbean and Israel, to raise the firm’s profile, connections and business opportunities, including managing internal collaboration meetings, market visits, digital activity, market intelligence and internal communications. In addition, the International Business Development & Relationships Manager will be responsible for producing marketing collateral, coordinating the legal directories and award submissions process and creating and implementing international marketing campaigns, thought leadership initiatives and client-focused events with the support of the Marketing team.

A motivated business development professional with a team-player mindset, you will have had previous experience in an international law firm, possibly supporting the business development and relationship efforts of regional desks or practices, and will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in delivering results and targets to strict deadlines across a range of BD activities including international BD trips, conferences and pitches. Highly organised and proactive, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, the International Business Development & Relationships Manager will understand the importance of referrer networks to international business development strategies and possess a sound knowledge of CRM systems, preferably InterAction.
