We are seeking a Strategic Governance Manager (COO) to lead the design and implementation of a governance framework across COO functions and to establish and lead the day-to-day management of the Chief Operating Office.

How you’ll support us on our mission to keep people safe and warm…

  • Develop and maintain the COO Governance Playbook / Management Framework, aligned with the SGN Corporate Governance framework, defining delegated authority, control systems, and escalation procedures to empower managerial decision-making.
  • Prepare Board reports and papers, supporting both internal and external COO meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Internal Comms team on communication and engagement initiatives across the COO function, including townhalls, roadshows, and briefings.
  • Ensure there is a comprehensive forward look of key dates, milestone, and events to ensure sufficient lead times for the work to be undertaken as well as review and sign off.
  • Work with the Director of Operational Performance to assemble high-quality reports, decision papers, minutes, and other documents to ensure the COO function operates smoothly and escalates appropriately to Executive and Board committees.
  • Monitor governance arrangements within the COO function in alignment with the SGN Governance Handbook.

  • Experience of creating and developing corporate or divisional governance frameworks
  • Experience of successful implementation of governance frameworks
  • Experience of monitoring governance frameworks to ensure they are effective.
  • Experience of working within/establishing secretariat functions/Executive offices
  • Able to keep information confidential.
  • O365 including SharePoint, Planner, MS Project for the Web
  • Experience writing high quality board and exec papers, with a high standard in the English language and eye for detail in proof reading.
