MLC Partners are actively recruiting for a Director of Operations (12month maternity cover) with a membership body with a rich history, based in central London. This role is part of the Senior Leadership team and is responsible for the operational running of the organisation, including operational planning, facilities, compliance, HR and IT/security.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Operational Planning: Produce an annual operating plan and work closely with the CEO and Director of Finance on annual and three-yearly budgets.
  • Leadership and management of facilities and maintenance, IT, Events and HR teams.
  • Compliance/Policies: Lead on development and updating company policies in align with current legal requirements. Lead on procurement policies and manage external contractors.
  • Facilities: Provide management oversight of the facilities team, including major projects on the building’s structure.
  • Events: Oversee the coordination of the company’s internal and external events, as well as managing the generation of income from the commercial
  • Risk/Security and IT: Oversee the IT department and take the lead when appropriate on physical and cyber security, regularly reviewing and testing the company’s security measures. Coordinate the risk register and lead on communicating of any risk to the Finance and Risk Committee, and Company Directorates.

Essential background:

  • Substantial track record directing operations in a complex organisation, ideally within membership, not-for-profit or commercial sectors.
  • Experience in producing complex budgets and procuring and managing external contractors.
  • Excellent operational planning and team management skills
  • Strategic planning and ability to deliver multiple projects and workstreams.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract commencing early November. It is hybrid working (3days in the office), based in central London. Applications are under constant review and this ad will expire on Friday 11th October.
