Governance Officer / Company Secretary – Housing Sector – Full time 5 days per week –6 months (Maternity cover) – Hybrid – Greater London – Camden £15 p/h PAYE, £21.83 p/h Umbrella

Reed Talent Professionals are supporting a reputable Housing Association based in London, in the search for a Part time Governance Officer.  The professional Governance Officer will provide support to the Company Secretariat in ensuring the organisation fulfils its legal and regulatory obligations and maintains the highest standards of probity.

The ideal candidate will have previously worked within the Housing sector and will have a good understanding of corporate governance work, gained through some experience working in a governance or company secretariat environment.

Hybrid working based at Camden – 2 days per week minimum.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Working with the declaration process Working with the relevant chairs and Directors, liaising with colleagues across the business to ensure timely submission of board and committee reports and monitor action plans
  • Writing reports, as well as handling legal documents.
  • Using the Workday portal to add information
  • Maintain excellent attention to detail and use initiative to identify issues and respond accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and contribute to the continuous improvement of governance practices.
  • Handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality
  • Reviewing the sign off of leasing, shared ownership or acquired land queries
  • Delivery training on governance and probity issues.
  • Proactive approach and the ability to prioritise and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstratable experience in dealing with legal documents
  • Experienced in reviewing governance documents
  • Proactive approach with the ability to prioritise and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and various computerised databases and electronic records.
  • Customer-focused with proven experience in providing excellent customer service.
  • Desirable: Undertaking or interest in Chartered Secretary/Governance Professional qualification.
  • Some experience in the social housing or charitable sectors is advantageous.
