Operations Department Head (Fitness to Practice) - Regulatory Body - 1 Year contract - £54,000 to £58,000 - Hybrid - London

A leading regulatory body is looking for an Operational Department Head / Manager (Fitness to Practice department) to join its team on a 1-years contract to cover maternity leave. The person will lead, motivate, and provide strategic direction to a multidisciplinary team, managing fitness to practice cases and administrative support. You’ll play a key role in driving improvements, collaborating with the Fitness to Practice management team to embed change and ensure regulatory standards are met. This role combines leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on management to ensure high-quality service delivery and regulatory compliance. It is essential you have experience of managing a team of managers, able to motive, guide and manage the management team into using different practices and procedures.

SALARY ETC:

  • £54,000 to £58,000 per annum
  • 1-year, full-time, contract (covering maternity leave)
  • Start: ASAP (ideally second / third week of October for handover)
  • Hybrid working, with at least 2-days in the office.
  • London, Elephant & Castle area.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • It is essential you have experience of managing a team of managers.
  • Able to motivate, guide and manage the management team into using different practices and procedures.
  • Educated to degree level and/or relevant knowledge and understanding
  • Experience of managing teams in delivering time and quality critical business processes
  • Experience of working within professional regulation, or other regulatory environments, or held a similar role.
  • Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, able to plan work effectively.
  • Ability to plan and forecast the workload of the team, making effective use of resources to meet current and future operational demands.
  • Proven ability to produce accurate, high quality written reports and management information, presenting complex information clearly
  • Ability to manage, lead and motivate, with the ability to support and develop employees through coaching and feedback

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Fitness to Practice and other managers.
  • Deliver strategic goals and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Analyse data to identify risks and proactively solve operational issues.
  • Implement agile strategies to anticipate regulatory changes and improve processes.
  • Ensure regulatory decisions are robust, consistent.
  • Meet public protection objectives.
  • Manage team performance, providing direction & coaching.
  • Promote a high-performance culture.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and represent the organization.
  • Support the department's equality, diversity, and inclusion goals.
  • Deputize for the Head of Fitness to Practice when required.
