SALARY: £35,000 per annum

LOCATION: Stepney Green, East London - 100% site based. The role may require providing support at more than one location

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Day Shift - This post requires the holder to do varying shifts, which include early mornings, late evenings and an on-call rota system. The post holder is also required to work weekends as part of a rota and Bank Holidays when required.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Deputy Managerwith previous experience working in a Residential Children’s Home dealing with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties / EBD, Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce / Children’s Residential Diploma and good management / leadership skills.

As the Deputy Manager you will be the key leader within the house, ensuring it is well run, organised and meets the needs of the resident children.

Working as the Deputy Manager you will actively promote the application of the Psychosocial Model in your day-to-day engagement with your wider team and others in the organisation.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Deputy Managerwill include:

  • Plan, manage and lead shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day
  • Promote equality of opportunity, a respect for diversity and anti-racist practice
  • Ensure that staffing ratios, training events and staffing experience are reflected when producing the Plan-day Rota and that the rota is monitored regularly
  • Assist with and to act as an emergency contact where required in line with the On-Call policy and procedure
  • Lead, coach and develop team members so that they are engaged and are retained
  • Ensure that training and development needs are identified and assure talent management of team members
  • Support the Registered Manager and under direction of the Registered Manager address action points raised by the Regulation 44 visit
  • Provide formal supervision of delegated members of staff
  • Be involved in the recruitment, selection and induction of staff and volunteers where appropriate
  • Lead in overseeing the development, monitoring and implementation of the individual children’s care plans and case files
  • Represent the service and organisation at external meetings related to safeguarding

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working in Residential Childcare
  • A motivation to work therapeutically with Children and Young People
  • Level 3 Children and Young Peoples Workforce/Children’s Residential Diploma
  • Experience in being in a leadership role (e.g., Senior Support worker or another similar role)
  • Working and supporting children with social and emotional needs
  • Attendance and partaking in child focused meetings such as CIC reviews
  • IT Literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • To be available for sleep-in duties if required
  • Ability to form positive relationships with children
  • Ability to participate in a range of activities with enthusiasm in the context of the role
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Preferred Requirements

  • Able to drive with a clear Driving Licence
  • Experience working in a Therapeutic provision
  • Experience of leading staff teams
  • Attained or working towards Level 5 Leadership and Management
  • Specialist training in a related area
  • Knowledge of child development
