About the Role

Are you passionate about improving early years education and ensuring high-quality, inclusive provision for young children? We are looking for an experienced Early Years Quality Improvement Advisor to support Private, Voluntary, and Independent (PVI) early years settings in achieving the highest standards of care and education.

In this pivotal role, you will provide expert advice, challenge, and training to early years settings that are at risk of receiving or have received a 'Requires Improvement' or 'Inadequate' rating from Ofsted. You will also work closely with managers, practitioners, and external partners to develop best practices that promote children's learning, development, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Specialist Support & Challenge - Work with PVI nurseries, pre-schools, and childminders to improve their Ofsted ratings.
  • Training & Development - Provide expert guidance on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), safeguarding, SEND, and quality improvement.
  • Collaboration & Partnerships - Work with local authority teams, social care, education, and health professionals to ensure inclusive early years provision.
  • Parental & Community Engagement - Support providers in developing strong partnerships with families to enhance home learning environments.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensure all settings understand and meet legislative requirements, including the EYFS framework, SEND Code of Practice, and safeguarding policies.
  • New Childcare Provision Support - Advise and assist individuals or organisations in setting up or expanding early years services in Southwark.
About You
  • Qualifications: A minimum Level 3 qualification in early years/education (Degree in Early Childhood Education, EYTS, EYPS, or equivalent is desirable).
  • Experience: Previous leadership/management experience in an Ofsted-registered early years setting with a 'Good' or 'Outstanding' rating.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of EYFS, Ofsted inspection processes, safeguarding, SEND, and early intervention strategies.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, training, and advisory skills, with the ability to provide constructive challenge and support.
  • Commitment: Passion for raising standards in early years education and ensuring all children have access to high-quality provision.
