It’s an exciting time to join Southwark Council as we prepare to open our very first children’s home - Olive House. We're looking for compassionate and experienced Children’s Residential Practitioners (Waking Night) to help us make this vision a reality.
About the Role
As a key member of our residential team, you will provide overnight care and support to children aged 10-17 with social and emotional needs. Your duties will include:

Creating a safe, nurturing environment that encourages independence and emotional well-being.

Managing nighttime routines, offering reassurance, and responding to individual needs.

Providing support during crisis situations and ensuring children feel secure and cared for.

Carrying out domestic tasks to maintain a homely atmosphere.

Accurately recording events, updating care plans, and ensuring smooth handovers.

Administering medication in accordance with our procedures.

Participating in training, supervision, and team development sessions.
What We’re Looking For
? Essential:

Experience in a children’s residential setting (e.g., children’s home) - this is non-negotiable.

Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and trauma-informed care.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Calm and supportive approach in challenging situations.
? Desirable:

Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification (or equivalent).
