About the Role:

Are you passionate about supporting young children with special educational needs at a Nursery age? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and nurturing nursery school in Putney. This part-time position involves providing targeted support for children with special needs, helping them thrive in a safe and stimulating environment. Opportunities are available for an immediate start as well as for the new academic year in September.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to young children with special educational needs in a nursery setting.
  • Work closely with the nursery team to create an inclusive environment where each child can flourish.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's specific needs.
  • Support the children in daily activities, encouraging social interaction and engagement.
  • Use a variety of strategies and resources to support children's learning and development.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to the nursery team and parents.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Assist with personal care needs as required.
  • Participate in training and development to enhance your skills in supporting children with SEN.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:

    • Previous experience working with young children, particularly those with special educational needs.
    • Understanding of child development and the ability to implement age-appropriate activities.
    • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children.
    • Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
    • Flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting children's individual needs.
  • Desirable:

    • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Early Years Practitioner or Teaching Assistant qualification.
    • Experience working with specific needs such as speech and language delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or developmental delays.
    • Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and its application in a nursery setting.
