We look after pre-school children ranging from 10 months to 4 years old in a beautiful large house in leafy East Dulwich. We are open 8-6 Mon-Fri but offer flexible shifts within this. We are a bilingual Spanish setting with approximately half the staff being Spanish speakers and diversity is a core value, so we have several male staff for example, which is unusual in early years. We are working towards becoming a Curiosity Approach accredited setting and all staff will be involved in this and provided with specific training. We are a home-from-home setting so take a maximum of 24 children a day. Our Casa has a calm, fun and playful family feel thats very different from super-hectic nurseries. Staff are encouraged to get involved in developing creative activities with our child-led curriculum and unnecessary paperwork is kept to a minimum as staff well-being is a huge priority. We offer lots of training and apprenticeship options for staff should they wish to study further. We have a long waiting list and excellent relationships with all our families and staff. Your responsibilities will include supporting children in play and learning activities, everyday care routines such as meal and sleep times, observing and record keeping of childrens development and planning to meet their individual needs supported by establishing positive relationships with parents and carers.
Key responsibilities:
Helping to prepare and feed children simple meals and drinks (the cook
prepares hot meals).
Changing nappies or helping with potty/toilet training.
Teaching general life skills, such as basic hygiene and manners.
Helping to get the children safely access nature play at our house or in
local green spaces.
Closely supervising children during activities and ensuring the
environment is safe.
