I have been retained by an international, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy who are looking to appoint an Associate Director who will run and grow the civils team in London. My client offer Structures, Civils, MEP and Facades services + more  to a range of clients and get involved in projects based in the UK and overseas. Around 40% of their work is overseas. In this role, you will be part of my clients management team and will be expected to play an active role in the development of the business. My client is one of the largest independent engineering firms in terms of revenue and have some exciting growth plans for the future which you will be an integral part of. Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow the civils team in London
  • Help mentor/guide junior members of staff
  • Contribute to the development of the business strategy
  • Setting and meeting agreed budgets
  • Review projects for technical & design quality
  • External marketing in the interest of securing new work
  • Negotiating major contracts with customers/clients and/or suppliers/contractors alongside the Regional Director/Director
  • Handle contract administration

What you need:

  • Chartered
  • Ideally 10+ years’ experience
  • Experience in a client-facing role
  • Commercial Awareness
  • A strong local network of contacts that can be built upon
  • Experience managing a team in the past
  • An in depth knowledge of: Section 38 adoption and 278 works, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Road markings and Signage
