Position: Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (Temporary Works)

A leading role for a chartered civil or structural engineer working with an established and respected specialty contractor. This well managed business has been drastically ramping up margins and turnover. Their reputation for successfully delivering complex projects owes much to the high calibre of their technical team. You will play a leading role in managing internal and external engineering design activities.
Company Overview: A specialist contractor known for their ability to deliver complex heavy civil engineering and building projects. Their projects tend to be high profile schemes in the nuclear, rail, airport, highways, commercial & residential high rise sectors. They employ over 700 staff who work on projects nationally, a significant proportion of their activity is in Central and Greater London. The technically challenging nature of their projects means they have a core team of highly capable civil/structural engineers who have a leading front-end role that is vital to successful delivery.
Your Role: Working alongside the chief engineer you will help drive innovation and ensure temporary works designs are fully optimised and practical. This will require careful consideration and preparation of design briefs, and the management of the external consultants who carry out most of the detailed design. You will provide technical advice and guidance to project managers and estimators. Elements of temporary works design will be carried out in-house for which you will be responsible.
Profile Required: A chartered or incorporated civil or structural engineer with experience of temporary works gained with a contractor or a consultant. Technical and practical knowledge with insight of design and buildability issues. A skilled communicator able to forge close and productive working relationships with project managers and external consultants.
