As a result of a significant investment in our client's transport network and wider infrastructure in the coming years, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Highway Engineer on a long-term contract basis.
 
What the job is for:
 
In relation to Highway Engineering, you will be responsible for:
Conducting feasibility studies leading to final design and implementation of schemes to current technical standards.
To prepare or assist in the preparation of technical design and contract documents
Formulate project programmes and liaison and co-ordination of stake holders to deliver project to time scale and budget.
Compile maintenance schemes / contracts and monitor progress of contracts and consultants to deliver cost effective maintenance of infrastructure.
Supervise, motivate and direct junior members of staff to promote project delivery to agreed timescale and budgets.
Prepare advice in respect of highway design and required modifications to mitigate impacts and ensure robust highway infrastructure
Procurement of contractors
Appraise financial implications of schemes on overall budget with direction of line manager.
 
What you will need to succeed:
 
·Ability to demonstrate experience in Highways engineering
·General knowledge of Engineering, Highways and transport policies and associated legislation
·Good written and verbal communication skills
·Working knowledge of AutoCAD
·Able to work without close supervision
·Ability to keep good work records
·HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering / Transportation
