Job Title: Hydraulic Modeller/Hydrology ConsultantLocation: Fully RemoteType: Flexible Working Hours, Remote, Permanent.Salary: £36,000 - £45,000 depending on experience.We're looking for a fully remote Hydraulic Modeller/Hydrology Consultant!Background:The company was founded in 2012 and has been built to independently add value, knowledge, and technological innovation across the flood risk sector. Their expertise is unlocking development potential. They excel at flood modelling and flood risk assessments for the most complex of sites. They support their clients on the most challenging of projects. Their team of 20 experts have achieved success in supporting projects in flood zone 3b, challenging the Environment Agency Flood Maps and delivering on complex flood mitigation studies, working within multidisciplinary teams and providing expert witness services, in the UK and Internationally. Their growth and success in recent years has led them to being shortlisted for various awards. About the Role:You will become a key part of the existing consulting team; the successful candidate will have an enthusiasm to develop their career in the water/ environment sector. The right candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a distributed team and can communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with colleagues and clients alike. Client care is important to them as a business and they encourage regular communication with their clients so that they are involved in the project process and potential implications of what they are seeking to achieve. They support individuals in progressing their career through having chartered members of CIWEM able to support your career whilst providing exposure to all aspects of the business. You'll work across private sector and major infrastructure jobs with a diverse project portfolio. There are even opportunities to work internationally. This role is aimed at those wanting to progress their career and gain exposure to new aspects of being a consultant, bidding for work, project management, business development and being responsible for projects concept through to completion. Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful in this role you will hold a Minimum degree(s) in Geography, Environmental Management or Engineering and have a good technical background with anything from 4 years upwards of UK based industry experience. We expect applicants to have significant experience in several UK-recognised flood modelling packages, such as Flood Modeller, ESTRY and TUFLOW. It would be advantageous if the applicant has experience in developing hydrological assessments using WINFAP, ReFH2 and FEH statistical methods. Applicants should be familiar with both 1D and 2D modelling methods and their application to a range of studies from minor development to major infrastructure. A key part of the role is being able to communicate your decision making process, adapt to challenging modelling requirements and present technically sound information to a range of stakeholders. You will have the ability to:

  • Write clear, concise and technically accurate modelling reports
  • Undertake hydrological analysis for model inputs using WINFAP/ReFH or other methods
  • Develop hydraulic models from survey and check and review third part models for suitability.
  • Translate complex modelling outputs to easily accessible and understandable information to support the clients desired outcomes (planning/ flood alleviation)
