Mechanical Estimator Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Analyse project plans and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates
  • Work closely with engineers and project managers to define the scope of work
  • Review and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Use estimating software to prepare precise cost estimates
  • Select appropriate materials and equipment for projects
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals for mechanical projects
  • Conduct risk assessments and create mitigation strategies
  • Track and manage project budgets and expenditures
  • Communicate with suppliers and contractors to obtain pricing information
  • Assist in contract negotiations and finalise project scope
  • Monitor project progress and report any deviations from the plan
  • Provide support during project implementation to ensure adherence to estimated costs

Mechanical Estimator Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction industry
  • Proficiency in estimation software and tools
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Minimum of 3 year's experience in mechanical estimating
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and estimation software
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organisation skills
