MEP Design Coordinator
One of the top 30 companies in M&E are looking for an MEP coordaintor to join their design team to manage external Design consultants and CDP Specialists through construction stage design delivery on high rise, high end residential projects in Central London. What you’ll be doing:
The role involves overseeing and managing various aspects of the M&E design process to ensure successful project delivery. You will be responsible for handling Building Control submissions and responses, coordinating with clients, and addressing any actions or responses that arise from meetings. Internally, you will participate in technical reviews, submittals, and meetings, ensuring that all drawings, calculations, and technical details are thoroughly reviewed.
You will work closely with the appointed design consultancy to deliver electrical design solutions that meet the client's requirements within the agreed timeframe and budget. This collaboration extends to the Project and Commercial teams, where you will identify and communicate any obstacles, delays, or missing information that could impact the project. Additionally, you will collaborate with both in-house and external BIM Engineers to ensure the design is well-coordinated and installation-ready, gaining client approval.
Your responsibilities will include conducting engineering checks, producing calculations, and reviewing drawings and schematics to verify the accuracy of the design consultant's work. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Navis, and BIM is essential, as you may need to investigate consultancy designs and occasionally make design amendments.
Collaboration with the Procurement and Commercial teams is crucial for producing technical submittals, which you will issue to the design consultancy for approval. You will attend regular design and procurement meetings to provide updates on progress and address technical submittal requirements.
In support of the project delivery team, you will assist with on-site design issues, managing the process and leading any necessary communications. You will also review the first issue of design deliverables, such as drawings, calculations, and technical submittals, returning them for revisions as necessary. Additionally, you will identify and assess value engineering opportunities, evaluating the associated risks and benefits concerning the project’s program and value.
What you’ll need:
- HNC / HND / Degree in electrical / mechanical engineering or building services engineering
- Background in electrical building services (project, design or maintenance)
- Experience in high end residential ideal
What you’ll get:
