Engineering Manager (ML) - Climate Tech Scale-Up

As an ML Engineering Manager/Lead, you'll take a hands-on role in developing and optimizing an innovative NLP model while leading and mentoring a small team of ML Engineers and Data Scientists. You'll set technical direction, ensure best practices, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Climate Science teams. You will be steering the ship as it were. This role is with a climate tech scale-up who are growing rapidly, and not stopping anytime soon.
Responsibilities:
路 Guide others through code reviews, architecture guidance, and pairing.
路 Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the ML team.
路 Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation, encouraging the team to test new approaches and learn quickly.
路 Ensure ML pipelines are scalable, reproducible, and well-documented, establishing robust MLOps practices.
路 Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to align ML initiatives with business goals.
路 Develop and refine NLP models, focusing on domain-specific LLMs.
路 Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of ML projects, from research to production.
路 Act as the primary expert for ML problem-solving, assisting team members with complex challenges.
Essential Skills:
路 In-depth knowledge of Python and its machine learning libraries.
路 Extensive experience in Machine Learning and Data Science roles, with a background in leading and mentoring team members.
路 Demonstrated success in delivering production-level ML systems.
路 Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, translating technical work into tangible business outcomes. You will be speaking with stakeholders and advising on key objectives for everything ML.
路 Experience thriving in fast-paced startup or scale-up environments, where priorities can shift quickly.
