Job Purpose

The Capacity Lead Engineer is responsible for overseeing and optimising the capacity planning, utilisation, and performance of building systems across a portfolio of properties. This includes leading the assessment of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to ensure reliability, compliance, and alignment with operational requirements and future growth.

Key Responsibilities
    • Responsible for the H&S of the sites and engineers.
    • On site HV and LV Authorised Person when qualified
    • To proactively check the operation of the Permit to Work system in accordance with the company, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements. Especially with regards to sub-contractors adherence to RAMS.
    • Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirement of the contract. Administer subcontractor work approvals and safe operation while repair or service is carried out on site.
    • Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by site management.
    • To undertake annual appraisals of shift technicians once you have completed the Appraisal and Development training course.
    • Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
    • Ensure the Computer Based Maintenance system, e.g. Maximo, Concept, etc is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
    • Work closely with the Area Contract Manager to ensure that the service levels are maintained to a consistently high level.
Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong background in building services engineering, ideally electrically qualified (level 3 or equivalent)

  • Proven experience in a technical or engineering leadership role within the building maintenance or facilities management sector.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and system schematics.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Familiarity with BMS, CAFM, and energy monitoring systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in critical environments (e.g., data centres, healthcare, or high-security sites).

  • Knowledge of energy efficiency frameworks and building optimisation techniques.
