Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Hours: 37.5 Hours a week

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000

Other: Hybrid Working

A growing civil design engineering consultancy, who predominantly work within the rail and infrastructure sector, are now actively seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their dynamic team at the busy office. This is owing to increased workload from numerous Tier 1 contractors and clients throughout the UK in the infrastructure sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide geotechnical expertise for civil design per Eurocodes
  • Produce investigation specs, reports, and designs
  • Design of foundations, retaining walls, earthworks, and piles
  • Experience in renewables is a plus
  • Offer technical guidance to teams and clients
  • Conduct Design Risk Assessments and hazard reviews
  • Collaborate across disciplines in design and management
  • Prepare/review ground investigation specs and attend site visits
  • Develop best practices with technical staff
  • Support tenders: review ITTs, develop strategies, identify risks, engage sub-consultants, and coordinate deliverables

Requirements

  • Holder of a Civil Engineering degree and Chartered status
  • Background in civil design, preferably in a consultancy setting.
  • Prior involvement in infrastructure projects, particularly in the rail or power sectors
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Solid expertise in civil structural projects involving essential geotechnical knowledge for design.
  • Track record in securing projects, including risk assessment and management.
  • Proven skill in supervising and mentoring staff.
  • Adaptable and flexible work approach, fostering collaboration.
  • Capacity to represent the company professionally during on-site inspections/surveys, even during unconventional hours.
  • You will need to have a current clean driving license.
