Key Responsibilities for a Principle Civil Engineer

  • Lead and manage a small team of engineers, overseeing the delivery of work packages with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure timely submission of deliverables, technical reviews, budget monitoring, and commercial management of projects.
  • Support the development and performance of professional staff through guidance, training, direction, and feedback.
  • Engage in the design of both temporary and permanent works, ensuring high-quality standards and the right solutions from the outset.
  • Provide internal team leadership in implementing engineering solutions.
  • Lead day-to-day technical discussions and collaborations with other designers, contractors, and clients.
  • Ensure adherence to technical briefs and project requirements.

Qualifications and Experience for this Principle Civil Engineering role:

  • Strong academic background with postgraduate qualifications in civil or structural engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Chartered status in civil or structural engineering with membership in relevant professional bodies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical skills.
  • Proven experience in a dynamic engineering consultancy environment.
  • Extensive experience in tunnelling and underground space on major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Proficient in BIM and other design software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
