The Opportunity
Rullion is excited to partner with the Sizewell C (SZC) Project, a cornerstone of the UK's ambition to achieve net zero. We are seeking a talented Project Engineer to join the Civil Works Programme (CWP), a pivotal part of the growing Engineering & Technical function. This role offers a unique chance to support the design and delivery of critical civil infrastructure for Sizewell C, the next generation of nuclear power plants in the UK.

As a Project Engineer, you will work within an innovative and collaborative team, driving the design, engineering, and technical requirements for the Civil Works Programme. You'll engage with key stakeholders, the UK Government, and manage high-profile technical deliverables from design definition to construction. This is a career-defining opportunity to be involved in the creation of a world-class nuclear facility.

The Role
As a Project Engineer within the Civil Works Programme, your role will involve:
Supporting a Design Manager:
* Collaborate on defining and validating SZC Technical Requirements and Specifications, engaging with Nuclear Services and the SZC Design Authority.
* Manage technical Open Points and Design Changes through governance processes such as Replication Principles, Technical Direction Forums, and Change Committees.
* Ensure technical assurance for end-to-end design, supporting technical reviews and approvals.
* Assist in risk management activities using structured processes.
* Engage in technical responses to Early Warnings, Compensation Events, and Technical Queries from L3 Design Supply Chain, coordinating input from relevant technical stakeholders.
* Oversee the coordination of design interfaces across various civil works areas, ensuring compliance with SZC Engineering and Design processes.

Supporting the Engineering & Technical Project Manager:
* Provide technical input and support for contract management and project control, including budget and schedule management.
* Assist with updates to the schedule of Engineering & Technical scope, coordinating with schedulers and project teams.
* Support procurement and commercial teams by providing technical assistance for contract scope areas.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including the Civil Works Alliance, to ensure successful project delivery.
* Maintain project reporting in line with SZC's requirements and performance metrics.

The Skills
To excel in this role, you'll bring:

Essential:
* Strong knowledge of design activities in heavy civil engineering structures, including reinforced concrete, structural steel, and current design standards (e.g., British Standards).
* Experience in external works such as drainage, utilities, paved surfaces, and logistics, with familiarity in UK design standards.
* Experience working in project teams with a focus on technical delivery, including supplier management and technical direction.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage across diverse stakeholders, including design teams, senior management, and regulators.
* A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent qualification.

Desirable:
* Experience in the nuclear sector, particularly relating to the design and delivery of safety-critical structures.
* Working towards Chartered Engineer status (MICE or MIStructE).
* Prior experience managing design elements of large infrastructure projects.
