Situation

An award-winning, London-based rail company is seeking a skilled Revenue Modeler to join their commercial division and help bring their vision of offering sustainable services to life, while driving profitability through their recently launched net-zero strategy.

As the business transitions into a publicly owned entity, there is an increasing demand for comprehensive revenue reporting, including critical monthly submissions to the Department for Transport. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in forecasting passenger demand and revenue, directly supporting the company’s financial decision-making and investment planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver robust forecasts to support financial planning, including preparing the annual revenue budget and revenue forecast.
  • Use your expertise to analyse historical data and forecast future revenue trends, applying appropriate models.
  • Understand how economic and demographic trends impact passenger revenue and use this to adjust forecasts accordingly.
  • Assess the effects of projects and investments on revenue, providing evidence-based insights to guide strategic decisions.
  • Conduct scenario modelling to highlight potential revenue risks and opportunities.
  • Maintain and update the demand & revenue model, ensuring it remains accurate and fit for purpose.
  • Regularly report on the company’s revenue performance, including revenue incentive schemes.
  • Work closely with the Finance Analysts to ensure consistency in reporting and forecasting non-RSP passenger revenue.
  • Represent the company at industry forums and ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

 Salary and Benefits:

Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong spreadsheet modelling skills – knowledge of ‘Best Practice’ in Spreadsheet Modelling (Essential)
  • Comfortable assimilating within the team (Essential)
  • Able to report on technical terms in a suitable manner to Senior Management Team (in non-technical language) (Essential)
  • Strong eye for detail (Essential)
  • A drive to understand markets and customers, and the problem-solving skills to identify improvement opportunities (Essential)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Rail industry and the factors which can affect revenue (Desirable)
  • A numerate degree or professional qualification, in economics, statistics or business studies (Desirable)
