Senior Civil Engineer

London

50k-55k plus benefits

Are you a Civil Engineer who is looking for the next step in your career? Are you chartered?

Our client is a global company who lead in the practice of modern methods of construction. They bring a 'Design to Value' approach, using the combined powers of data, technology and imagination to establish what the most effective solution will be for their clients.

They are looking for the successful candidate to have a lot of enthusiasm for engineering design. You'll be keen to work in a challenging design environment on the civil elements of projects, in which you'd show your interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team. You would have a good theoretical knowledge of hydraulics, geotechnics, structural principles, and relevant design standards. Being an effective problem-solver who takes an organised and systematic approach to solving design problems, you will thrive on having an in depth involvement in their interesting projects. They are looking for someone who has the willingness to learn modelling software, including AutoCAD and Revit (although ideally would already be familiar).

The successful candidate will have a good level of civil design capability including levels, underground drainage, utilities, pavements and roads, flooding, and earthworks. They will need to carry out most of this design autonomously for small building sites and work under supervision for medium sized projects. You would have experience engaging with and achieving approvals from Building Control, environment agencies, planning departments, statutory undertakers, and other relevant authorities. Good knowledge of design codes, standards and regulations. Ideally familiarity with Eurocodes, British Standards and Building Regulations. Also proficiency in (and enthusiasm for) design and modelling software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D and hydraulic modelling software such as MicroDrainage- is very important. A good understanding of BIM required. Knowledge of Revit beneficial but not necessary, if the candidate does not have experience with Revit, a willingness to learn is essential.

  • Relevant experience of working in either a design office or directly within the construction industry with exposure to a variety of project sizes, stages and industrious
  • At least 5 years' experience and currently at senior level
  • Have a relevant Civil Engineering degree with a minimum of an upper-second class with honours from a recognised institution (Master's preferred but not essential)
  • Chartered or currently progressing towards Chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers, or an equivalent institution

Alongside a competitive salary, our client is offering a 9 day fortnight (not compressed hours - they give one genuinely free rest day every fortnight with no change to salary). They pay professional memberships, ICE accredited Training and Development Scheme and dedicated mentor for chartership aspirations. They also allow working from home 3-4 days a week.
