Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

Salary: up to £80,000 + package.

The project
The project you will be working on is a CAT B fit-out of laboratory space in an existing building in central London. The project is the next phase of a complete refurbishment of an existing Grade 2 listed building in which three floors will be fitted out for Universities laboratory space.
The package is worth circa £15 Million, and as Project Engineer you will take the phase from pre-construction to commissioning, reporting to the lead project manager on the scheme.Â
Upon the successful management of design stage and pre-construction, you will then move into a project management role. In this position you will be reporting to the Project Director and be responsible for the delivery of the Mechanical Services.
Responsibilities of the role
- Review mechanical project estimates and tenders with the team to understand conditions, requirements, risks, and client-defined deliverables.
- Oversee MEP design development, ensuring compliance with contracts, regulations, budgets, and project requirements while protecting client interests.
- Establish a productive working relationship with the client, on all mechanical installation responsibilities, concerning design and co-ordination activities and develop contract/project opportunities.
- Ensure efficient mechanical project engineering and installation, aligning with CDM, quality, and programme requirements.
- Manage procurement of mechanical materials, equipment, and costs, maintaining accurate schedules and reports for senior management.
- Assess and organize mechanical resources for safe, efficient, and profitable project execution.
- Communicate project conditions, specifications, and instructions clearly to all team members.
- Ensure safe, efficient mechanical installations and adhere to procedures both on and off-site.
- Supervise the team, supporting training and development throughout the project.
- Coordinate technical, design, and procurement aspects of the mechanical package from start to handover.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be qualified with HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services Engineering.
- Have experience managing commercial projects, with a minimum mechanical value of around £5m
- Have experience working on large technically challenging projects, as part of a multidisciplinary team.
