A Local Authority based in North London is currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer to join their team as soon as possible.

This is a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis offering hybrid working at an hourly rate of between £30 - £40 per hour Umbrella LTD (£24 - £31 per hour hour PAYE)

The purpose of the role is to support the Structural Engineering Manager in the delivery of cost effective, customer focused Building Control Services - including taking responsibility for service wide and area based initiatives that support continued improvement in the quality, cost and effectiveness of the service to support delivery of the outcomes in the corporate plan. To support as directed, the implementation of corporate and workforce development programs within the team and follow and promote corporate governance and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting, monitoring and reporting on remedial works necessary to defective building structures including carrying out necessary repairs such as underpinning, strengthening etc.
  • Checking of structural elements of Building Regulations and Entertainment licensing as required under the Building Regulations and associated legislation.
  • Carrying out design and site investigations for all new works and refurbishment projects.
  • Inspection of Highways Structures and reporting thereon. Arranging maintenance and renewal/strengthening works as necessary.
  • Prepare production drawings using Autocad software.
  • Making period visits to the site as necessary to inspect the progress and quality of the work to determine if the work is proceeding in accordance with the contract documents.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Membership of a relevant professional organisation
  • Knowledge of structural engineering practice and procedures, the design and construction process, Health and Safety, including CDM, quality management systems, fee management, project programming and resource planning.
  • Knowledge of working drawings, including design for bridge and building structures (including monitoring and repair of structural defects).
