Position: Building Structures Project Engineer
Location: West London ( Zone Two )
Salary: £45,000 -£55,000 per annum plus pension, bonus & benefits
An opportunity for a structural engineer who wants more involvement and influence on design and delivery. Our client, a long established, independent consultancy, is held in high industry regard. Their workload includes some of the UK’s larger, high-profile projects, involving regular collaboration with celebrated architects. This is a medium size business arranged into small project teams, your ideas and knowledge will have meaningful impact ensuring the development of your client facing, technical and delivery skills. More generally the firm nurtures its employees and has a friendly and collaborative culture, consequently staff turnover is low.
Project Workload: Typically valued between £50m and £200m they work nationally with London being the location for a majority of their larger projects. You will work on complex new and refurbishment schemes. They are well known for their expertise in delivering refurbishment and re-purposing projects on high value, sensitive listed buildings. New build projects will typically include healthcare and mixed use residential.
Your Role: Working alongside a structural associate you will help develop designs in all the commonly used materials from concept stages through to detail design production. You will make regular site visits to carry out surveys and inspections and prepare specifications and reports. There will be regular collaboration with clients and contractors. You will provide guidance to the junior engineers and technicians who support you. The development of your engineering and management expertise will be on-going as you progress. Working closely with your line manager you will gain insight into fee negotiation, project resource planning / project delivery, client advisory stages and the management of engineering staff.
About You: You should have five years or more building structures design experience. Knowledge of steel and concrete design and the ability to use engineering software such as TEDDS, SCIA or similar packages. A degree qualified structural or civil engineer, en route to becoming chartered with the IStructE or ICE. Good interpersonal and client facing skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.
